Citrus platymamma, hort. ex Tanaka(병귤)
-국내에서 재배되고 있는 재래 감귤품종 중 병귤은 외국의 어떤 문헌에도 기록되어 있지 않은 순수 국산 품종으로 현재 제주에는 수령이 300년 이상 된 병귤나무가 있고, 천연기념물로 지정예고 되어 있다.
병귤은 비교적 당도가 높고, 내한성과 병충해에 특히 강한 것으로 알려져 있으며, 재래감귤 중에서 향기가 가장 좋으며 제주에서는 예로부터 한방요법에 사용될 정도로 기능성 물질 또한 많이 함유하고 있는 것으로 보고되고 있다.
-The citrus species, Byungkyool (Citrus platymamma hort. ex Tanaka), is purely a species to Korea. Byungkyool tree found in Jeju is 300 years old and designated as a natural monument.
Byungkyool has a relatively higher sugar content than other native citrus species, and is known to be particularly resistant to low temperatures and disease tolerant.
It has been reported that Byungkyool contains diverse functional substances which have been used in herbal remedies.
